Scenario 2 Checklist¶
Make a backup of your NETLAB+ VM. This should be done to a location that is not on your management server or host servers as those will be later cleared during the Proxmox VE install process.
Remove all NETLAB+ Catalog User Pods. This does not include Master Pods or Custom Pods. This is generally all the linked‐clone pods.
Remove all NETLAB+ Catalog Master Pods. This does not include Custom Pods. This will not remove the VMs.
Remove all NETLAB+ Catalog Master VMs.
The next steps require you have at least one empty host server. This will be used as a temporary management server to migrate your NETLAB+ VM to Proxmox VE. Once completed, you will install Proxmox VE on your management server in a later step.
Remove the host server from the NETLAB+ Virtual Machine Infrastructure.
Install Proxmox VE on the empty host server (temporary management server).
Delete VMFS Datastores before setting up NVMe SSD Datastores.
You will CREATE the cluster on the temporary management server.
Remove the management server from the NETLAB+ Virtual Machine Infrastructure if previously added.
Install Proxmox VE on the old management server.
Delete VMFS Datastores before setting up NVMe SSD Datastores.
You will JOIN the cluster.
Migrate the NETLAB+ VM from the temporary management server to the new management server.
Import Custom VMs to Proxmox VE from any remaining host servers.
Install Proxmox VE on any remaining servers.
Delete VMFS Datastores before setting up NVMe SSD Datastores.
You will JOIN the cluster.
Remove all VMware connections in the Virtual Machine Infrastructure in the following order:
Virtual Machine Inventory VMs
Virtual Machine Host Servers
Virtual Datacenters and Management Agents
Add Proxmox VE cluster to the NETLAB+ VMI as a datacenter using the management server IP address.
Add all Proxmox VE host servers to NETLAB+ (management and host servers.)
